(Madera, CA, April 10th, 2023) – Exciting end to Triple Crown racing for 2023 in Glendale, Arizona. This past Saturday was the third and final Triple Crown race of the year. Progressive ECSTAR Suzuki pilot Ken Roczen fought fiercely for 5th place aboard his RM-Z 450cc Suzuki. Kyle Chisholm had his best ride all season on his Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance RM-Z 450cc Suzuki; he finished 10th overall. Shane McElrath was not too far behind him in 13th overall. 250cc West Coast rider Dilan Schwartz was sidelined under the weather and unable to race in the main events.
Ken Roczen #94: What an exciting day in the desert for Ken Roczen and his fans. In three main events, Ken went 5-3-5 for 5th overall. Roczen currently sits 4th in Championship Series points, with a 1-point lead over 5th place.
“I had fun all day in Glendale. “We were pretty competitive all day. The track was gnarly, super hard-packed, very open, and fast. I put up a good fight in all three mains. I wasn’t on the podium. I had a really good time out there today, and that’s all that matters.
Shane McElrath #12: Top 15 finish in Glendale, Arizona for McElrath. Despite rough starts to each race, Shane overcame some challenging scenarios in all three main events. His best race came in the second moto with 11th place. McElrath finished 13th overall, going 15-11-16 in three main events.
“It was a tough race today,” said Shane McElrath. “It’s a heavy schedule to do three mains like that, and it definitely wore me out. I’m excited about the progress today. Everything was a lot better, and it was encouraging. We’ve got five rounds left. I’m excited to return to work with the team and will see you in Atlanta.”
Kyle Chisholm #11: What an impressive round for Chisholm. Qualifying in 11th place, Kyle carried that momentum into the night show. His best race came in the final main. Kyle got a good start and was in the top ten for most of the race, finishing in 10th place. Going 14-12-10 in three main events, Chisholm finished 11th overall.
“Good weekend for me,” said Kyle Chisholm. “We had the week off. I got to ride outdoors, which was a nice change of pace. Matt, our suspension tech, made a new fork for me this past week, which worked out great and helped me with some stiffness and cornering. The best I felt all year. I had really good qualifying positions. I had terrible starts in my first two mains but rode well. In the last one, I got an excellent start. I was up to 9th at one point and ended up 10th in the moto. Pumped with the whole weekend, the team did great.”
Dilan Schwartz #85: Bummer day for the young 250cc west coast rider. Dilan headed into the weekend under the weather and could not recover. Despite his efforts, he was too sick to race the main events and had to sit out.
“I got super sick on Wednesday,” said Dilan Schwartz. “Tried doing everything to be healthy for this weekend but went out for practice and could barely do two laps. My body didn’t have it in me this weekend. Sorry to all my supporters and fans. I wish I were out there racing.”
“We had a pretty good night,” said Team Manager Larry Brooks. “It was a Triple Crown; they are always tough and action-packed. Ken Roczen finished 5th, Kyle Chisholm did well tonight; he finished 11th, and Shane McElrath finished 13th. We had three guys in the top 13, which is pretty good. We are trying to improve and get better every weekend. We are getting to a good spot, and we are pretty happy.”
The series moves East to Atlanta, GA, for the 13th round of the Supermotocross Championship Series; Saturday, April 15th, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
