(Madera, CA, February 21st, 2022) – The 10th round of the 2022 Monster Energy A.M.A. Supercross series got underway at the Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance had a stunning team result, with Justin Bogle and Brandon Hartranft having their best result so far this year with a pair of top tens. Adam Enticknap continued to recover from a neck injury and was not with the team in Indy.
Justin Bogle #19 – finishes 8th overall in the 450-premiere class.
Justin Bogle #19 is the season-best result for Justin Bogle, with 8th place overall in Detroit, MI. Justin had an intense ride in his heat race, which resulted in 5th place and carried that momentum into the main event. Bogle got a great start to the main event, getting the holeshot and leading for a few laps. Eventually, settling into an impressive 8th place overall.
“Much better night tonight.,” said Justin Bogle. “We made a lot of progress testing with the guys this past week. I got a good heat race with a 5th, which got me into the main event with a decent gate pick, which led to my getting a holeshot. I led for a few laps, and it was good for me to remember what it feels like to be up there again. The pace is intense, so you got to get there so you can feel it again and get used to it and get back up there. It was nice to lead some laps and feel like myself again a little. The second half of the main wasn’t great. So, we are going to keep plugging away and do some testing. It was a much better night.”
Brandon Hartranft (#41) – finished 9th overall in the 450-premiere class main event.
Brandon Hartranft #41 – Strong result in Detroit, MI for the 23-year-old from New Jersey. A mistake in his heat race while running in 5th caused him to crash and fall out of qualifying position; he found himself in the Last Chance Qualifier. Capitalizing on his mistakes, Brandon took advantage of the L.C.Q. and got a great start leading the entire race, finishing in 1st place. Hartranft continued to ride well in the main event coming away with personal best in supercross with 9th overall in 450-premiere class.
“It was a great day,” said Brandon Hartranft. “Qualifying went well, and I was in Heat 1; I was riding good got into 5th place, and made a dummy mistake. I over jumped a jump and compressed into the face of this jump, indo’d into the tuff blocks finishing in 10th place. I had to go to the L.C.Q. It was cool to get out front and lead; I hadn’t done that in a while. It wasn’t cool to be in the L.C.Q., but it was cool to win the L.C.Q. It was nice being in first. The main event started okay, but I started breathing heavy and cramping up, and I fought thru it. A bunch of guys went down, and we ended up finishing 9th. I am really happy with that.”
“Good day overall for the team,” said Dustin Pipes. “We were a little off the pace in qualifying. We didn’t qualify where we wanted to. In practice, the guys looked better than they did in qualifying. So, we knew we would race better than where we were pitted for gate choice. Both guys rode well in the heat. Unfortunately, Brandon had a bit of a wreck and had to regroup and win the L.C.Q. I think it was good for him to get some clear air up there and win a race for tonight. The main event was great; Justin got a great start. We tested all week with Justin and Brandon, so I was curious to see where we got with it. I think it showed with us getting out there and leading some laps. It was nice to see Justin out there leading laps. He settled in there with 8th place. Brandon started 16th on the opening lap and rode his way to 9th. It was a good result for him and the best one he has had this year. I am happy to get out of Detroit with two top tens, and I am looking forward to Indy!”
