Pipes Motorsports Group went racing across the globe this past Saturday. Ken Roczen won the British GP & Freddie Noren had a career-best 7th overall on his Twisted Tea /H.E.P. Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance.
(Madera, CA, July 3rd, 2023) – Pipes Motorsports Group fielded two teams this past weekend, one racing across the globe in Birmingham, UK, for the opening round of the World Supercross Championship and the other racing at the iconic Redbud National for the 2023 Pro Motocross Nationals. Progressive Insurance’s Ken Roczen took the overall win at the British GP. Teammate Kyle Chisholm also had a stellar round with 6th overall. H.E.P. Motorsports Freddie Noren had a stellar day at the Redbud National with 7th overall in the 450cc premier class and is now 6th in series points for Pro Motocross.
Ken Roczen #94 : Ken Roczen put on a thrilling show, winning the overall, nearly sweeping the event, just coming up short in the Superpole & the second moto after a climatic finish. Roczen went 1-2-1 in three main events for the overall win at the World Supercross Championship opening round.
Larry Brooks : “We only had Freddie Noren this weekend at RedBud,” said Team Manager Larry Brooks. “He had a really good performance. We struggled in the time practices but got through it with 13th place. In the first moto, he finished 7th place after a 5th place start which I was pretty happy with. Then in the second moto, he got a 20th place start and came up the field to finish 8th which gave him 7th overall. He also moved into 6th for championship points. I think it was a really good day for the team and Freddie, and we are happy.”
Freddie Noren #47 : “Super pumped on the day,” said Freddie Noren. “Definitely didn’t feel like I was having a flawless race. I had two solid motos going 7-8 for 7th overall. The biggest excitement for me was moving into 6th place in the standings. We were a small crew this weekend with the guys over in England, and I am pumped for Kenny getting the win. It was fun here at Redbud. Alex Faith, my mechanic did well; everyone did a good job today. I felt decently comfortable all day didn’t have anything necessarily sketchy, no crashes, and it was pretty much a drama-free day. Overall I’m super happy it was a fun race. I’m excited about Southwick; I like that track a lot. We’ll keep that momentum going and hammer down.”
Marshal Weltin#50 : After sustaining a knee injury in the previous round, Weltin was forced to get knee surgery and will miss the remaining Pro Motocross Outdoor Nationals rounds.
Kyle Chisholm #11 : Fantastic start to the W.S.X. Championship series for Kyle Chisholm. Getting better each race, Kyle went 11-7-4 in three main events for 6th overall.
Cullin Park #67 : Exciting opening round for Cullin Park. He got strong starts except for the second moto, where he was caught up in a first-corner crash. Cullin finished the day in 7-19-8 in three main events for 10th overall.
Hunter Yoder #58 : First international race for the young 19-year-old. It could have been a better start for Yoder, but he did have a strong race in the first main event with 11th place. Hunter went 11-18-17 in three main events for 16th overall.
